MOHALI: Avik Chowdhury made a classy 110 as Indian Revenue edged out Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) by six runs in a tense Group A match of the BCCI Corporate Trophy on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first, Indian Revenue ran into crisis before Avik's 157-ball knock and Amitabh Velaskar's run-a-ball 41 helped them to reach 255 for eight in their allotted 50 overs.
In reply, ITC looked pretty much on the trail with Mohit Sharma (61), Parvinder Singh (51) and Bipul Sharma (42) making useful contributions but their lower order could not complete the job as the side finished at 249 for nine.
Indian Revenue looked in trouble at 53 for four before Avik Chowdhury and Amitabh Velaskar stemmed the rot and steadied the ship.
Down the order, Devraj Patil (24) and Ankit Sharma (22) came up with cameos to push the score past 250-mark.
In reply, ITC were going great guns at 222 for five but once Bipul Sharma perished, their middle and lower order simlpy capitulated.
