New Zealand, who have already booked a place in the semi-final of the ICC World T20, will take on a despondent Bangladesh in their Super 10 Group 2 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

1x1 polls

So far captain Kane Williamson has not fielded his frontline pacers — Trent Boult and Tim Southee. It is to be seen whether the team management gives the duo an opportunity to warm-up ahead of the semi-finals. Meanwhile, their pace trio — Adam Milne, Corey Anderson and McClenaghan – ably backed by tweakers Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi, has given the side the desired results.
Only once, in the inaugural tournament of 2007, the Black Caps made it to the semi-finals. With the kind of form they are in, this will be their best chance to go a step further and probably go the distance should they make the April 3 summit clash.
On the other hand, after three consecutive defeats — against Pakistan, Australia and India, it is Bangladesh's last chance before returning to home, to bring smiles on the faces to their dejected fans. In their last encounter on Wednesday against India, Bangladesh snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as they lost to the hosts by one run on the last ball of the match.
"It's always difficult to take something from it (a close defeat) to another match," Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza said after the India game.

"But obviously being professional players we have to take it and play hard cricket in the last match. Obviously if we can do something there then we can take something back home," he said.
After the 55-run defeat at the hands of Pakistan at the Eden Gardens, Bangladesh raised their game against Australia and India and got appreciation from the rival camps for their spirited all-round performance. Now it's time that they display some maturity and calm demeanour to win their last match against a buoyant New Zealand side, who have a 3-0 win-loss record in T20Is against the Asian side.
After the suspension of their two in-form bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny, replacements Shuvagata Hom and Saqlain Sajib have so far failed to give Bangladesh the desired results. In the absence of decent attack, Mortaza would be looking up to his top batsmen – Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahaman – to erect a score which would be easy to defend, in case they bat first.
