Piyush Chawla has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to undergo treatment for a niggle which he developed during the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
Nitin Patel, chief physiotherapist of the NCA will treat the Uttar Pradesh cricketer for a stiff-thumb problem. The treatment of Chawla, who arrived on Monday, is expected to continue till Friday.
The 23-year-old, who has played two Test matches and 22 one-day internationals, had claimed two wickets in the two matches he played in the World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Also undergoing rehabilitation at the academy is the fast bowling duo of
S Sreesanth and
Varun Aaron.
Sreesanth, who hasn't turned out for India since last August's Test series against England, has only played one first-class match before picking up a toe injury.
The Kerala pacer resumed batting three weeks back and has now started working on his bowling operating in short spells. The 29-year-old is expected to be fit by the end of next month.
Meanwhile, Aaron is expected to continue his rehab programme at the academy to cure his back problem.
The Jharkhand pacer has been carrying the injury since the ODI against West Indies in Indore last year. However, it got aggravated during his stint with Delhi Daredevils in this year's
Indian Premier League.
