Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London has been slapped with a fine of $14,069 for the "violent gesture" he made after scoring the winning touchdown in "Monday Night Football." The gesture led to a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty as the touchdown only tied the game. London had already expressed his regret for the gesture that occurred after he had caught a 7-yard pass from Kirk Cousins. For the Falcons to take the lead, kicker Younghoe Koo had to make a 48-yard PAT.

The NFL fined Falcons receiver Drake London $14,069 for a touchdown celebration that involved firing a gun into the crowd. Officials penalized London, reducing the game-deciding extra point by 15 yards. Coach Raheem Morris defended the gesture. “His intent was not as a use of a weapon,” Morris said. “He probably was shooting T-shirts into the stands, to be honest with you, because he’s just that kind of a guy.”
Atlanta Falcons' recent hostage situation at Georgia's Apalachee High School was a significant setback for the team, as the team had hosted the football team there following a mass shooting. London, later stated that his celebration was insensitive due to the global gun violence crisis and likely won't do it again.
"It's a trend around football right now to do that type of celebration," London told ESPN. "It was my first Monday Night Football game. I kind of lost myself in there. I wasn't happy with the position I put my team in. There's a lot of stuff going around in the world with gun violence that I don't think I should have displayed there. So, I'm not too happy with it and [you] probably won't see that again from me.”
The NFL has deemed London's gesture inappropriate, despite the league's history of removing significant amounts from players' paychecks without oversight. London will attempt to rectify the situation during the Falcons' upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs on "Sunday Night Football.”
