Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl spot sparks outrage as Jason Whitlock accuses NFL of pushing ‘gay agenda’
Bad Bunny being chosen to perform at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show has started a big debate online. Conservative sports commentator has called the NFL’s decision a push toward “gender fluidity” and “LGBTQ messages being forced on families.” Whitlock said during his BlazeTV show that the league is promoting these themes through its ads and artist choices, pointing at Bad Bunny’s performance as the latest example.
On his BlazeTV and YouTube show, Jason Whitlock went on a long rant against the NFL, accusing it of airing “too many gay commercials” during games.
He mentioned a PayPal ad featuring Will Ferrell sitting in a bubble bath wearing curlers and a DirecTV commercial with actors Kumail Nanjiani and Rob McElhenney wearing fur coats and jewelry. Whitlock said these ads were part of a plan to “normalize gender fluidity.”
He then linked his criticism to Bad Bunny’s halftime show, saying it continues this pattern. “What are we doing?” Whitlock said. “They want families watching football to start asking questions about sexuality. They’re forcing this conversation into every living room.”
He also asked why football can’t be just about the game, saying, “Can we just watch football without the sexual stuff being shoved down our throats?”
Jason Whitlock also mentioned that Bad Bunny has openly talked about his sexual fluidity and worn drag before. He believes the NFL is promoting a “social agenda” through these choices rather than focusing on sports.
Jason Whitlock isn’t alone in his criticism. Thousands of fans have signed a Change.org petition asking the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which helps choose Super Bowl performers, to replace Bad Bunny with country music legend George Strait.

The petition argues that the halftime show should “celebrate American culture and unity” and not become a “political stunt.”
The petition, started by Kar Shell, says Strait represents “the heart and soul of American music” and would bring a “family-friendly” performance to the stage.
It also criticizes Bad Bunny’s drag performances and Spanish-language songs, saying they don’t match what families expect during football’s biggest event.
As of now, the petition has over 17,000 signatures, and fans are still debating whether Bad Bunny’s performance will unite or divide audiences. The NFL and Roc Nation have not yet commented on the backlash.
