The former NFL corner left a comment under an ESPN post showing Du wearing a jersey with his name in Chinese characters during the Sugar Bowl. Antonio Brown uses controversial racial slur to describe Notre Dame player

Super Bowl triumph over Georgia prompts Antonio Brown into controversial use of racial slur on social media versus Notre Dame. With a 23-10 win, Notre Dame secured their spot in the Orange Bowl against Penn State, but Brown seemed far more interested in scouting junior cornerback Charles Du.

"Ch**k of the Day #CTESPN," Brown wrote while tweeting an ESPN post showing Du's jersey with his name spelled out in Chinese. “A Legend… got an NIL deal for this kid. Tag his X for me.”

A native of Beijing, Du attended high school in California and came to Notre Dame as a walk-on. Notre Dame has also incorporated players' names on their jerseys for the College Football Playoffs.

Brown, meanwhile, was previously known for his Twitter tirades that he made about current Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada, who compared former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher to Adolf Hitler and slammed celebrities like Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift, Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, and Caitlin Clark among others.

Brown was traded to Oakland Raiders in 2019. This made him the highest-paid receiver in the league. Unfortunately, his stint with Oakland lasted a short period, mainly because of off-the-field incidents and an altercation with the general manager Mike Mayock. He joined New England Patriots, but the team cut him off after appearing in one game. He caught a touchdown pass from Tom Brady in that single game.

He was being investigated by the NFL for sexual assault allegations. Brown spent the remainder of 2019 and early 2020 as a free agent before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning Super Bowl LV. He was released near the end of the 2021 season after stripping off his uniform and running off the field during a game against the New York Jets.

Notre Dame defeated Georgia in the first round, then defeated Indiana. They face Penn State on January 9 in the Orange Bowl, which will be as slight favorites as the Fighting Irish. The other semifinal game will be a contest between Ohio State and the Texas Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl on January 10.
