Matt Barrow of The Athletic went on Tim Kawakami’s podcast following the trade. A confirmation was done that reports Samuel was 20 pounds overweight last season.

“Can’t wait till this season starts,” Deebo Samuel shows excitement for his fresh innings

During the podcast session, Barrows told Kawakami on The TK Show, “I’m not going to say the number, but I asked what was Deebo’s high point weight wise last season and it meshes with what you said a couple of weeks ago.” “It got really high and there may have been reasons for that,” he added.

“Not able to work out because of pneumonia. Not able to work out because of injuries. But that’s a concern. I think the 49ers had that concern the minute he showed up in Santa Clara in 2019 and it never fully went away,” Barrows further added.

Responding to the above report, Deebo Samuel tweeted on Twitter, “225 to be exact. ... Can’t wait till this season starts. Fresh start new Bo.”

The sweet war on Twitter seems clear as Barrow’s report shows some fluctuation. During the NFL scouting, Samuel weighed 214 pounds whereas Barrows wanted him to weigh 210 pounds, a slight difference.

This is not the first backlash Samuel is facing, in 2023 Kyle Shanahan, his then coach, said, “Never had a grown man send me so many pictures with his shirt off.”

With this on Monday, February 3, Samuel posted a farewell video on X. In that video, he gave special thanks to general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan, and the entire team for their support.

Samuel’s heartfelt message goes like this, “49ers know where I stand with them and it’s nothing but love.” “Love John and Kyle to death, no bad blood no way shape or form. They know I’m more than appreciative of everything they have done for me as a player and a man, an nothing but love.”

Holding a good profile, this receiver has played for the 49ers his whole NFL career and has been one All-Pro season in 2021. He made 51 passes for 670 yards and three touchdowns.
