NEW DELHI: Dan Campbell, leading the Detroit Lions to the top of the NFC North, is eager to face Dennis Allen's New Orleans Saints, a team Campbell feels a connection to since their time together at Texas A&M in the late '90s.

"It's special," Campbell expressed about returning to the Caesars Superdome. "It's a little like going home. That's why I'm fired up to go back there because I know winning in that building."

With the Lions (8-3) leading their division and the Saints (5-6) tied for first in the NFC South, the matchup holds significance for both teams. Campbell and Allen, former assistants under Sean Payton, share a deep understanding of the Saints' pride and opportunistic defense.

However, the Lions have faced recent challenges, especially in ball security. Jared Goff and the offense struggled with turnovers, including three fumbles in a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Packers. Campbell acknowledges this as a major issue.

"We're turning the ball over too much offensively, and we had one on special teams," he said. "That's the major issue right now. It's doom and gloom outside our building."

On the Saints' side, they aim to correct their red-zone inefficiency. Ranking 29th in the NFL in red-zone touchdown percentage, they are working to improve execution, protection, routes, and concepts.

"We haven't been able to get that corrected," Allen admitted, recognizing the urgency to address this issue.

Facing injuries, the Saints ruled out several players, including starters Kendre Miller, Rashid Shaheed, Pete Werner, and Marcus Maye. The Lions' Alex Anzalone is doubtful with a hand injury, while Jonah Jackson is questionable with ankle and wrist issues.
