The Detroit Lions defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 52-6, the worst loss in franchise history. Quarterback Jared Goff was perfect at 158.3 rating with 24 of 29 passes and 412 yards, four touchdowns. He became the first QB in history to have multiple games with 400+ yards passed and a 158.3 passer rating. The Lions also brought home three of their best skill-position players through running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs with five combined TDs along with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Jared Goff makes impressive passer rating for the second time in his career
Jared Goff was unstoppable in the Detroit Lions' 52-6 win over Jacksonville Jaguars, giving him a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in his career for the second time in his life. He scored 412 yards and four touchdowns, just like he did in 2018 when he accomplished it against the Minnesota Vikings with 465-yard and five touchdowns.
The offense stars for Detroit, St. Brown and Jameson Williams, set career-high marks for receiving yards. Montgomery and Gibbs combined for 218 scrimmage yards and three scores. Goff rebounded from five interceptions against the Texans. The Lions' offense did well, though the Jaguars struggled with injuries and a 46-point loss, which marked as the worst in franchise history. The Lions' defense could not contain the Lions from scoring, and it remains to be seen how many games Doug Pederson has left in Jacksonville and if the franchise's next head coach was on the other sideline.
Goff was drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2016 NFL draft. In his breakout season for 2017, Goff would help propel the team into its first playoff appearance since 2004. The following year, Goff led the Rams into Super Bowl LIII. He earned Pro Bowl selections during both of those seasons.
In 2021, following a disappointing fall season of production and friction with the Rams' management, Goff was traded to the Lions. He led the Lions to their first playoff win since 1991 in his third year with the team by the end; it was on route to an NFC Championship Game appearance, finally ending the longest playoff win drought in the NFL.
