Police arrested 77 farmers on Wednesday during a protest over land acquisition compensation. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for another march to Delhi on Friday via the Yamuna and Noida-Greater Noida expressways, with farmers demanding higher compensation and residential plots for their acquired land. Meanwhile, farmer groups protesting at the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana since February announced on Thursday that 101 activists are set to either march to Delhi or surrender to Haryana Police on Friday. Security has been tightened ahead of the farmers' Delhi march scheduled for today. Police have barricaded the Ambala-Delhi border as farmers prepare to depart from the Shambhu Border at 1 PM. On Thursday, 34 farmers were detained while attempting to move from Zero Point to the Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida to stage a protest without prior permission, according to police officials. In response to the ongoing farmers' agitation in Noida and Greater Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday formed a five-member committee to address the issue and propose solutions. As per an official release, the committee will be chaired by IAS officer Anil Kumar Sagar, Principal Secretary of Infrastructure and Industrial Development in Uttar Pradesh. The other members include Piyush Verma, Sanjay Khatri, Somya Srivastava, and Kapil Singh. The committee, comprising experienced professionals, has been tasked with submitting its report and recommendations within one month.

Farmers Protest Live: Farmers heading for gas pipeline protest clash with cops in Mansa
Three Punjab Police station house officers (SHOs) were among the many injured when protesting farmers seeking suitable compensation for land being used in Lelewala village of Bathinda to lay a natural gas pipeline from Mehsana in Gujarat to Bathinda, clashed with police in Mansa district on Thursday. A case was registered against 80 farmers under various charges, including attempt to murder. Tension gripped Bhikhi and Ramdittewala villages of Mansa when activists of farm organisation BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) clashed with police. The first confrontation occurred at Bhikhi in Mansa district when Bhikhi SHO Gurbir Singh tried to stop their convoy. However, on Thursday evening, the farmers put off their protest following an assurance by the administration regarding their concerns.
