It also stated the outlet sought proof backing her claim that multiple people were present during the Arizona outing.




The viral post reads, “The Athletic is pressing for proof about Russini’s claim that they were there with other people. In the days since the Post’s story was published, there has been no public evidence to support the claims. Russini posted an Athletic story by another author on Twitter/X on Thursday, but has not published any stories for the outlet since the photos with Vrabel were released on Tuesday. Russini is being questioned internally about the explanation she gave for her time with Vrabel at an Arizona resort.”

In that post, many fans said Vrabel should be questioned as well. A fan said," This is fine and good, but it takes two to tango. Mike Vrabel should be held equally accountable for his actions."

Another fan added, "I don't think the Athletic has the ability to discipline an NFL coach." Another folk added, "Vrabel is just getting off the hook."


The controversy traces back to photos published on April 8 by Page Six. The images showed Russini and Vrabel at the Ambiente Sedona, including moments at a pool and a private rooftop bungalow. A source told Page Six that the pair had breakfast around 10:30 a.m. on March 28, then moved to the pool area. The same report claimed they later used a rooftop space accessible only from two-person bungalows priced above $2,000 per night.


The report also described the two standing close, interlocking fingers, and briefly dancing during sunset. Those details quickly drove speculation, especially since both are married with children. The setting and timing added to the attention.


Vrabel responded in a statement to Page Six on April 8. “These photos show a completely innocent interaction, and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,” he said while addressing the speculation. The Patriots' head coach did not elaborate further.


Russini issued her response to Page Six the same day. “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues,” she said while defending the meeting.


The timeline then added another twist. On April 10, Russini shared an unrelated NFL labor report on X but did not publish a new byline story. That gap aligned with claims of internal questioning.
