Within hours of the New England Patriots’ 29-13 Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., fans spotted something that had nothing to do with coverages or box scores. Cardi B and Stefon Diggs were no longer following each other on Instagram.
Screenshots spread quickly on X, as fans tried to figure out what the ‘unfollow’ move meant. Neither Cardi nor Diggs has commented publicly, but the timing could not be harsher for a wide receiver who just watched his first Super Bowl start and slip away on the same night.
Cardi B’s Instagram unfollow turns Stefon Diggs’ Super Bowl loss into a relationship cliffhanger
According to multiple social posts and aggregation of the situation by reporter Priyam Hazarika, fans noticed shortly after the game that both Cardi B and Diggs had wiped each other from their follow lists. The move hit harder because of how visible their relationship has been since Cardi’s divorce from Offset in 2024 and the way it has been tied to Diggs’ rise in New England.
The two were first linked in late 2024, then went public with joint appearances, including a courtside look at a New York Knicks playoff game in May 2025 and a yacht photo that briefly went up on Instagram. Cardi announced her pregnancy in September and gave birth to their first child together in late 2025, while she continued to show up on the Patriots’ sideline in high-fashion WAG looks.
Ahead of Super Bowl LX, outlets reported that Cardi had mapped out a reported $1.2 million celebration for a potential Patriots win, complete with private jets for guests and a blowout party. Instead, cameras caught her making a cameo during Bad Bunny’s Apple Music halftime show in a corset, thigh-high Tom Ford gladiator heels and heavy diamonds, then leaving Levi’s Stadium shortly after, per fashion and entertainment coverage from Page Six.
The relationship has never been drama free. The U.S. Sun reported this week that Cardi had struggled to fit in with Patriots WAGs, citing an anonymous source who said, "She's always looking to be the center of attention, has no filter and no towel, and acts like she can do whatever she wants- and the same goes for her entourage." The same source added, "Most of the WAGs and families don't talk to her, don't want to talk to her, and don't want to be in the same space as her. They think she has no filter and isn't fun to be around because she's always focused on getting attention."
Diggs had also leaned into the public side of the relationship. When asked before the game if a win might lead to a proposal, he told reporters it "might be on the agenda." He joked that he needed to get his ring first before putting one on Cardi’s finger. With no Lombardi and now no follow from Cardi, fans have been quick to ask if the missed ring also cost him his shot at an engagement.
Stefon Diggs’ rough Super Bowl, viral brawl and legal problems crank up the pressure
On the field, this was supposed to be the payoff for Diggs’ move to New England. He joined Mike Vrabel’s team last March on a three-year, $63.5 million deal and put up 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season, becoming the Patriots’ first 1,000-yard wide receiver since 2019.
Seattle shut that version of Diggs down. With rookie quarterback Drake Maye under siege against the league’s No. 1 defense, Diggs finished Super Bowl LX with three catches for 37 yards, including a 26-yard grab where he took a huge shot from Seahawks safety Coby Bryant. Kenneth Walker III controlled the game on the ground with 135 rushing yards on 27 carries, and edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu delivered a pick-six as the Seahawks’ pass rush racked up six sacks and three takeaways.
Diggs’ most replayed moment came on a route where he never touched the ball. Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe drilled him out of bounds near the right sideline, then shoved him to the turf. Diggs popped up, grabbed Jobe by the facemask and squared up as the two jawed. Replays appeared to show Jobe throwing a punch and making contact with an official. NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay said on air that Jobe should have been flagged, and Heavy has already outlined how the league office could fine the cornerback for multiple violations once it reviews the tape.
None of that helped Diggs in the court of public opinion. Fans lit him up online for another quiet postseason night and the size of his contract, with some calling for New England to move on. The noise only gets louder when you layer in his off-field issues. As previously reported, he faces an assault case from a former chef, with an arraignment delayed until after the Super Bowl, and a separate defamation lawsuit that hit in the days before the game.
