The Miami Dolphins moved fast once the Mike McDaniel era officially ended. Now, the franchise had its next head coach in place. The Dolphins hired the Packers' DC Jeff Hafley, signaling a clear shift in direction after a messy 2025 season.

The news sent ripples across the league, including inside the Packers locker room. One reaction stood out. Micah Parsons, who played under Hafley in Green Bay, shared a rare, personal response that reflected both respect and loss. It was not scripted. It felt real. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Dolphins finalized Hafley’s hiring after a second interview with team leadership. The move came days after Miami parted ways with McDaniel, who finished his four-year run with a 35–33 record and just one winning season over the last two years.

Shortly after the news broke, Micah Parsons reacted on X. The comment came the same day and reflected his experience playing in Hafley’s system.

“Genuinely happy for Haf. Great guy, great person. Gonna miss his energy,” Parsons wrote in a social media post following the announcement.

Parsons worked with Hafley during his time in Green Bay after arriving from Dallas via trade. The linebacker signed a four-year, $188 million contract and immediately became the centerpiece of Hafley’s defense. In the 2024 season, Parsons posted 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 12 tackles for loss while anchoring a unit that finished fifth in total defense.

That success shaped Hafley’s growing reputation. Green Bay allowed just 314.5 yards per game in 2024 and returned to the playoffs. The defense slipped to 12th in 2025, but the Packers still reached the postseason. Around the league, Hafley earned credit for accountability and clarity, traits Miami lacked late in the McDaniel era.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross addressed the hire in a team statement.

“I believe great things are ahead for the Miami Dolphins with Jeff Hafley leading the way,” Ross said during the official team announcement. “Jeff is a proven leader and motivator.”

Miami also hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as general manager, another move tied to Green Bay’s front office. The Dolphins now lean on structure, discipline, and defense to reset a franchise that went 7–10 in 2025. Parsons’ reaction said it best. Hafley leaves respect behind.
