NEW DELHI: The Green Bay Packers faced a significant setback on Monday night as they were without their star running back, Aaron Jones, due to a persistent hamstring injury. Jones was ruled out for the game against the Las Vegas Raiders, adding to the team's injury concerns.
Jones had initially sustained the hamstring injury during the season-opening game against the Chicago Bears. Following the injury, he missed several games and only returned to limited action in a game against the Detroit Lions on September 28. In that game, he played 20 snaps, carrying the ball five times for 18 yards and catching one pass for a loss of 4 yards.
Despite his limited playing time, Jones has made an impact this season, accumulating 14 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 82 yards and another touchdown in just two games.
In Jones' absence, the Packers turned to AJ Dillon as the starting running back. Dillon, a 25-year-old back, has shown promise this season, amassing 44 carries for 118 yards and three receptions for 25 yards in four games, including two starts.
To bolster their running back depth, the Packers signed Patrick Taylor from the practice squad to the active roster. Taylor, 25, has appeared in three games this season, carrying the ball nine times for 29 yards and catching three passes for 23 yards.
The Packers, who entered the game with a 2-2 record, faced the Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) in a critical matchup. The absence of Aaron Jones was undoubtedly a significant challenge for Green Bay as they sought to secure a victory before their upcoming bye week.
