Pop icon Taylor Swift wasn't present to witness her boyfriend Travis Kelce's historic touchdown catch during the Kansas City Chiefs' victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. When there was little over 13 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Kelce caught the 77th touchdown in his hall-of-fame career, besting the Chiefs' record for touchdowns made for any player under franchise legend Tony Gonzalez. Ian Eagle on the play-by-play said during a live stream of the momentous occasion for Kelce with Taylor Swift thrown in with humor.

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs star, has now taken over the top spot as the player with the most touchdown receptions in Chiefs franchise history with 77. Travis Kelce scored a record-breaking 12-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs' Christmas Day match against the Pittsburgh Steelers, extending their lead to 29-10 with possession of the AFC No. 1 seed just half a quarter away.After Kelce's historic moment, as the Netflix cameras panned to the 35-year-old veteran, play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle dropped a cheeky Taylor Swift reference. “I would say he was ready for it,” Eagle said, referring to Swift’s “Ready For It?” track from her Reputation album.
Kelce caught a season-high 97 passes on eight receptions on 11 targets and became the first player in NFL history to catch seven straight seasons with at least 90 receptions.
Swift silently celebrated Kelce's stellar performance through social media since she was not attending Chiefs home games throughout the 2024-25 season because she only attended Chiefs home games in that season.Swift 'liked' three posts from the Chiefs, NFL, and 'New Heights' social media teams after breaking Gonzalez's record. Kelce thanked Tony for being a mentor and for always being available for any questions after breaking Gonzalez's record. “I feel like I’m still trying to fill that guy’s shoes. He’s such an unbelievable competitor and I’ve got so much love for him. It’s an honor to be in conversations with him.”Speaking to reporters during a post-game press conference, Mahomes additionally gave Kelce his due praise. “I was extremely excited, I’ve been trying to get him a touchdown for the last few weeks and I wanted to do it at Arrowhead [Stadium],” he said. "He's done so much for this organization, on and off the field. For him to have the career that he's had is special.
