“I can't even look him in his eyes right now”: Emotional Travis Kelce admits he let coach Andy Reid down during Chiefs’ tough season

That mindset showed in a conversation with former Chiefs great Tony Gonzalez on Prime Video ahead of the Broncos game, where Kelce spoke openly and did not hold anything back.“I feel like I can't even look my guy, coach Andy Reid, in his eyes right now because I feel like I disappointed him, or I let him down somehow,” he admitted.
It reflected how deeply Kelce values his relationship with Andy Reid. Reid has been more than a coach to him. He has been a mentor, a leader and someone Kelce feels accountable to beyond wins and losses. “That's my fearless leader. I just feel like it's my job to go out there and make it happen,” he added.
That sense of duty has defined Kelce’s career. Even as questions about retirement grow louder, his focus remains on honoring the trust Reid placed in him. The disappointment of this season did not weaken that bond. If anything, it made it more visible.
Before the Denver game, Reid was asked whether it could be Kelce’s final appearance at Arrowhead Stadium. The coach praised Kelce’s impact on the franchise and made it clear they have not discussed retirement.
Meanwhile, as retirement talk gains buzz, speaking on FOX NFL Sunday, former NFL star Gronkowski suggested that if Travis Kelce chooses to keep playing, it might not mean another year in Kansas City, by default. “I think he’s going to test the market out there, and he has to vie for a championship and the Super Bowl if he comes back,” Gronk said, adding, “I don’t really see that happening with the Kansas City Chiefs.”
