However, Deion had his father's public endorsement- through a poignant Instagram post before the game, where Deion proudly wrote "Let's go baby. Proud of u son," Shilo's game went nowhere. The senior safety collected three penalties during the game, including a horse-collar tackle, offsides, and a personal foul.

Nepotism Allegations and Lack of Accountability

As Shilo's mistake after mistake piled up, fans and commentators alike began to wonder if he was getting too much of a free pass just because he happened to be the son of Coach Prime. Indeed, many felt that, given the fact that Shilo's mistakes were demonstrably hurting the team, that player simply should be benched. Therefore, it was much speculated whether Shilo's status as Deion's son might just be giving him a break for his lousy plays. While Coach Prime is always an avid supporter of his children, this will be the first time in their lives, that this situation brings with it "nepo" (nepotism) criticisms that suggest Shilo's privilege in the team is causing the Buffs to overlook his weakness.
