The zest. The willpower. The relentless drive to win a Super Bowl. Everything is power-packed down to the mitochondria-level in Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. It’s just beyond inspiring! New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 84, a year older than Jones, has won over six Super Bowls. So, the owner of the Bravo Eugenia reportedly wants to retire with the most Super Bowl wins [he has three at the moment].
To achieve that, Jones admits in the latest press conference that he has “got work to do.” Preparation to do. He also needs to look for a defensive coordinator. The Cowboys’ general manager, Jerry Jones, recently fired Matt Eberflus. A reporter quickly asked Jones if Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer gets to hire his own defensive coordinator. Jones had a reply for that. Let’s find out what was that.
83 YO Jerry Jones talks about retirement
“My goal in life is to retire as the owner that won the most Super Bowls,” Jones said in the Wednesday press conference. “That’s my goal. To be retired in the NFL as the owner that won the most Super Bowls. We’ve got three, and how many more I’d have to go as the single owner? [New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft] has got how many? Six? So, I’ve got…”
Jones’ son, Stephen Jones, prompted, “Got work to do.”
The American billionaire businessman continued, “I’ve got work to do. But at least I’m up to the second rung in the ladder. My goal is to have retired and won the most Super Bowls as an owner.”
Brian Schottenheimer, Matt Eberflus, and Venezuela
Jake Fenner of the Daily Mail recently reported that at Wednesday press conference, Jones was asked how much say Brian Schottenheimer would have in hiring a new defensive coordinator. Jones responded with a bizarre reference to the Trump Administration’s recent operation in South America that led to the capture of an authoritarian dictator.
“Trump just said it. I’m running…Venezuela. Seriously,” Jones said while the press room laughed. “Schotty [Brian Schottenheimer] had everything to do with hiring Matt Eberflus last time,” Jones continued. “And that’s not done as a negative…no way in the world he’s here if Schotty didn’t want him here.
Okay, let me be real clear about that. He can tell you in his own words there, no way in the world if Stephen [Jones] didn’t want him here.
But I particularly had a party when we got him to have him come in, and I was excited about having the uniqueness of his staff.”
Dallas Cowboys head coach hints at Jim Loenhard of Denver Broncos
“I saw Jim [Leonhard] before we played Denver,” Schottenheimer said via Nick Harris of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Jim’s a heck of a football coach. You talk about a great football player, man.
We had some great years together in New York…you gotta speak to what Sean [Payton] and what that entire staff has done there.
Vance Joseph [Broncos defensive coordinator] is a guy I have a ton of respect for. Jim’s an excellent coach.”
