Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff and his wife, model Christen Harper, made a stunning entrance at the NFL Honors on Thursday night, capturing the attention of fans and media alike. The speculation quickly turned into confirmation when NFL insider Jeff Darlington shared the exciting news: the couple is expecting their first child.


"Congratulations to Christen and Jared Goff, who will welcome their first baby this offseason! Christen and Jared are here on the red carpet for NFL Honors, where Jared is nominated for MVP and Man of the Year. An exciting time for two amazing people will make such great parents," Darlington announced on social media.

Coming off an impressive performance at the NFL Pro Bowl Games, Goff had already been reflecting on his season and future. Although the Detroit Lions fell short in the divisional round against the Washington Commanders, the star quarterback remained upbeat about what’s next, both professionally and personally.

“I wish we were still playing, but this is nice to be here,” Goff told PEOPLE, acknowledging that while he would have preferred a Super Bowl appearance, being surrounded by the league’s best players at the event was still a special moment. However, football was no longer the biggest thing on his mind—fatherhood had taken center stage.

“I'm looking forward to becoming a dad,” Goff, 30, shared enthusiastically. For the quarterback, the dream of fatherhood had always been there, but now that it was becoming a reality, the emotions were even stronger. “I know it'll add a new perspective to life, and it'll be great,” he added.

Harper, 31, echoed his excitement, saying, “We're just excited to enjoy this special time together and just soak up every second.” Her joy was evident, as she radiated happiness while discussing their journey ahead.

The past year has been monumental for both Goff and Harper. Their wedding in June was followed by a historic season for the Lions, as Goff led the team to a franchise-best 15-2 record. While their Super Bowl aspirations were cut short, this new chapter in their lives offers a different kind of fulfillment.


Beyond football, Harper continues to make waves in the modeling world, with Sports Illustrated announcing her fifth consecutive appearance in its annual swimsuit edition. The magazine’s first reveal of her shoot, taken in Jamaica by photographer Yu Tsai, only solidified her status as a top influencer in the industry.

While Goff prepares for another season on the field, he’s also preparing for his most important role yet—fatherhood. As he put it, “I can't wait to watch her be a mom.” Harper, equally confident in her husband, added, “I know he's going to be the best, and it's just gonna be exciting to do this together as a team.”
