Raheem Mostert’s agent Brett Tessler confirms exit, hints at Super Bowl pursuit

"Looks like my client Raheem Mostert will be playing elsewhere next season," Mostert's agent, Brett Tessler, wrote earlier Friday on X. "Very thankful for his time with the Miami Dolphins, and this gives them a chance to get younger and gives him a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere."

Raheem Mostert, who joined Miami in 2022, played a crucial role in the team's offense over the past three seasons. His best year came in 2023, when he rushed for 1,012 yards and led the NFL with 21 total touchdowns.

However, his production declined in 2024 as he dealt with injuries and played a reduced role behind De’Von Achane and rookie Jaylen Wright. Mostert finished the season with just 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. By releasing him, the Dolphins free up $2.9 million in salary cap space. Despite his departure, Mostert remains determined to continue playing, with his agent, Brett Tessler, confirming that he is exploring opportunities with other teams.

Kendall Fuller signed a one-year deal with Miami in March 2024 after previous stints with Washington and Kansas City. He was expected to provide veteran leadership in the secondary but suffered two concussions during the season, the second occurring in a game against the Los Angeles Rams on November 11. The injury forced him onto injured reserve, limiting his overall impact.

While he remained a reliable cover corner when healthy, his release signals that the Dolphins may be looking to get younger at the position. Miami's secondary still features key players such as Jalen Ramsey and Kader Kohou, but they may target additional help in free agency or the draft.

A fifth-round pick by Miami in 2018, Durham Smythe spent seven seasons with the team and became a dependable part of the offense, primarily as a blocking tight end. While not a high-volume receiver, he had his best statistical season in 2023, catching 34 passes for 357 yards and two touchdowns.

The Dolphins' decision to move on from Smythe suggests they may be looking for a more dynamic pass-catching option at tight end, possibly through free agency or the draft. His departure also provides additional salary cap relief.

The Dolphins are expected to prioritize strengthening their offensive line, bolstering the secondary, and adding depth in key areas. With free agency and the NFL Draft on the horizon, the team will likely be aggressive in making upgrades, aiming to build a stronger supporting cast around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while improving their overall defensive depth.
