NEW DELHI: New York Jets and running back Dalvin Cook have opted for a mutual parting of ways, as reported by NFL Network on Tuesday.

Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler at the age of 28, is now actively seeking to join a Super Bowl contender ahead of the impending playoffs.

Without any further ado, here are the three key talking points as Cook leaves Jets:

Strategic Move in Free Agency

Last summer, Dalvin Cook, with a noteworthy reputation as a four-time Pro Bowler, was a sought-after free agent, attracting interest from teams like the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.

However, Cook made the strategic decision to sign with the New York Jets, envisioning a role that complemented Breece Hall, working in tandem with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Impact of Aaron Rodgers' Injury

The Jets' season took an unexpected turn when Aaron Rodgers suffered an Achilles injury in the team's first drive of the season.

The injury not only altered the course of the Jets' performance but also potentially influenced the utilization of Cook in the offensive strategy. The team's stumble to a 6-10 record with one week left in the regular season reflects the challenges they faced.

Limited Usage Despite Guarantee

Despite securing Cook with a one-year, $5.8 million guaranteed contract, the Jets opted to utilize him sparingly throughout the season. After an initial promising display with 27 offensive snaps (50 percent) in Week 1, Cook's involvement progressively decreased.

Notably, he did not take the field in the Jets' Week 17 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The limited usage raises questions about the strategic decisions and plans for Cook within the team.
