NFL free agency tracker: Biggest signings and moves across the league

The offseason for the 2026 season is already heating up as NFL teams start to change their rosters in preparation for the new league year. The official free agency period doesn't start until March 11, but a number of important signings, trades, and contract extensions have already happened.

Before players officially become free agents, teams are rushing quickly to get the best players. The offseason has already made big news across the league, from contract extensions for elite defenders to big transactions involving Pro Bowl players.

Key trades that have happened so far in the 2026 NFL free agency period.

Texans extend Danielle Hunter

One of the most important deals of the early offseason involves edge rusher Danielle Hunter and the Houston Texans. The Texans agreed to a one-year extension worth $40.1 million with the All-Pro defender.



Hunter is one of the best pass rushers in the game and an important part of Houston's defense. By securing his future before free agency begins, the team has ensured that one of their top defensive stars would remain in place as they look to build.

Rams stay aggressive with key moves

The Los Angeles Rams have also been active early in the offseason. The franchise re-signed veteran tight end Tyler Higbee to a two-year deal worth $8 million.



Higbee has been a crucial part of the Rams' offense for a few seasons now, and he and quarterback Matthew Stafford have worked together to make the passing game work. Keeping the veteran tight end will help the offense stay the same as they enter into the 2026 season.



The Rams also made a major defensive move by acquiring All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. Los Angeles sent the No. 29 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft along with additional selections to complete the deal.

Bills land star receiver D.J. Moore

The Buffalo Bills made a big move by getting wide receiver D.J. Moore from the Chicago Bears.



Buffalo sent a second-round pick in the 2026 draft to Chicago as part of the deal, while also receiving a fifth-round pick in return. Moore instantly adds another dangerous weapon to the Bills’ offense and could play a major role alongside quarterback Josh Allen.

The New York Jets and Tennessee Titans, on the other hand, traded tackle T'Vondre Sweat and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson to the other team.
