The Baltimore Ravens have built their modern identity around Lamar Jackson, from their offensive design to roster construction. But coaching changes often bring philosophical resets. Executives across the league know that new regimes prefer clean slates, especially at quarterback.

That reality explains why the Raiders have entered the conversation. Las Vegas holds the top overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and has the flexibility few teams can match. Brady’s presence has only added fuel to the speculation, as league insiders believe the Raiders want a bold move that reshapes relevance in the AFC West.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk addressed the mechanics of a potential deal. He outlined how a trade could legally take shape before the league year opens.

“In theory, the Raiders and the Ravens could agree to the terms of a Lamar Jackson trade at any time, with the understanding that it will be finalized on March 11, the first day of the league year,” per Florio. “If Brady wants to take a big swing and if Jackson is ready to take his bat and ball to a new city, it’s something to keep an eye on.”

Baltimore would hold significant leverage. Any deal would likely start with the Raiders’ top pick, with additional selections attached. That package could allow the Ravens to draft quarterback Fernando Mendoza or trade down and stockpile premium assets.

Jackson’s 2025 season added context to the discussion. Baltimore struggled with consistency, and durability questions resurfaced as the year wore on. While Jackson remains one of the league’s most dangerous players, the Ravens must now weigh peak value against long-term sustainability.

The emotional cost would be massive. Jackson delivered an MVP, playoff success, and a unique identity. Front offices also understand a harsh truth. Replacing elite quarterbacks rarely works on paper.
