How hungry can one be for a Super Bowl? That’s what defines the Kansas City Chiefs. They could not win a Lombardi Trophy for two straight years.
Facing this challenge, what do they do now? They acquire a player from a team that won it in one of those years! That’s what they did. This only shows how unstoppable their run game would be in the 2026 season.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Kansas City is signing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. He previously played for the Super Bowl LX champions, the Seattle Seahawks. This represents a bold move in the Chiefs’ quest for another title.
However, it also leaves ample room in the running backs’ locker room, making analysts wonder who will fill that heavy spot.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara is the name running through everyone’s minds.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara predicted to sign for Seattle Seahawks
Kenneth Walker III leaves a heavy space in Seattle. This is a mark left by someone [Walker] who doesn’t even party, just prepares for football when he’s not playing football. Just like Chiefs’ rival Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Anyhow, the Seahawks’ fourth-year RB Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a torn ACL sustained during Seattle’s win over San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round. The best has left. The second-best is injured. Who would save Seattle’s famous run game?
CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo reports that the Seahawks need to consider veteran running back Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints.
The veteran is nothing like Walker, but with Charbonnet expected to miss a good portion of the 2026 season, Seattle is in dire need. Kamara has long been a dual threat, recording 7,250 rushing yards, 4,948 receiving yards, and 86 touchdowns in 126 games.
According to Sports Illustrated's Zach Pressnell, Seattle may consider pairing Kamara with Charbonnet. Kamara could serve as an efficient interim solution to strengthen the running back position.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne’s presence could mean Saints RB Alvin Kamara’s absence
The Saints signed Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne to a four-year, $52M contract, averaging $13M per year. He bid farewell to his longtime friend Jaguars QB
Trevor Lawrence.
Analysts Dan Orlovsky and Peter Schrager say Etienne’s joining could mean Kamara’s departure. Schrager said on The Pat McAfee Show, “You don’t usually bring in a big free agent like Etienne and keep a Kamara.”
Kamara has the biggest cap hit for New Orleans. He’s in the final year of his two-year, $24.5M contract, which he signed in Oct. 2024.
Instead of offering him more or signaling a new contract extension, the Saints reduced his 2026 salary on March 6 from $18M to $10M using the CBA’s 50% rule. Just three days after this salary adjustment, they brought in Etienne, prompting sudden speculation about Kamara’s future with the franchise.
With Etienne now on the roster and Kamara’s position in doubt, various analysts have put forth a franchise that makes perfect sense for the Saints running back. The tallest of them all is the Sam Darnold-led Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle could trade Christian Haynes for Saints running back Alvin Kamara
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay suggests a trade option for Kamara and Seattle because the free agent market is running dry. Seattle could sign Saints RB for one year in exchange for backup guard Christian Haynes.
Haynes recorded only 199 offensive snaps throughout his two seasons in Seattle. A change of scenery could help him find his footing in the league. And the Seahawks could very well again become famous for their run game in 2026. This time with New Orleans’ powerhouse player.
Is Alvin Kamara retiring?
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports the star RB could be hanging up his cleats. His contract was restructured. This calls for some to wonder if he'd ever return. The 30-year-old had an injury-ridden 2025 season. Does he have one more year left in him? Remains to be seen...
