"Not a KC Fan!" Ja'Marr Chase Throws Shade at Kansas City Chiefs, Wants Saquon Barkley to Dominate Super Bowl 59
Ja'Marr Chase is not hiding who he's rooting for in Super Bowl 59. The Cincinnati Bengals star has publicly endorsed the Philadelphia Eagles—and, more specifically, their star running back, Saquon Barkley—as they prepare to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs. Chase has never been one to keep his opinions to himself, and his latest comment makes it clear that he won't be cheering for Patrick Mahomes and the company. Given how bitter the rivalry between the Bengals and the Chiefs have become in the last few years, it's hardly surprising that Chase isn't exactly rolling out the red carpet for Kansas City.
The Bengals wide receiver openly admitted that he is hoping for a dominant performance from the Eagles' star running back. During an interview on NFL Live, Chase stated, “Everyone knows I’m not a KC fan, so I’m hoping Saquon rushes for like 200 this game.”
He also cited the strength of both teams, commenting, "I think overall, it'll be a great game just because both sides has great players on each side," But don't make him start changing sides just yet; loyalty to Philly for this one will remain.
Chase has never been shy about his disdain for the Chiefs. He even refused to take Patrick Mahomes' name in previous interviews, stating "I'm not saying his name. I give credit when it's due, but I'm not saying his name." This only added fuel to the already heated AFC rivalry between Cincinnati and Kansas City. Since Chase entered the league in 2021, the two teams have clashed six times, splitting the wins evenly at 3-3. However, the Chiefs have won their last three matchups, including critical postseason battles.
The Eagles are going to do everything in their power to stop the Chiefs from winning their third consecutive Super Bowl, and this is when Barkley is going to play a huge role. Leading the league into 2024, their star running back has been nothing short of phenomenal, making 2,005 yards in rushing. The playoff run has not been any different, with 442 yards and five touchdowns in three games.
The explosive performances by Barkley have placed Philly in a prime position, and if he delivers another monster game, Chase's wish for a 200-yard performance might just come true.
Cheering from the side will be Chase as the Eagles try to grab their second Lombardi Trophy. The dislike Chase has for the Chiefs is plain, and with Barkley having a field day on the ground, it is going to be a win Bengals receiver will feel just as ecstatic about as fans in Philly will.
