The Atlanta Falcons needed to beat the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints to secure a playoff spot. However, a defensive letdown allowed Bryce Young to score, and the Panthers won 44-38 in overtime, ending the Falcons' hope of a postseason run. The Buccaneers then took care of the Saints. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who had won the game for Carolina, played a joke on those still left in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, telling them he'd see them at an all-inclusive resort. The Falcons took a big blow to their hopes of making it into the playoffs.

Jadeveon Clowney trolled the Falcon fans after he Sunday game

The Atlanta Falcons will not play in the NFL playoffs this year, as they learned their postseason fate last week in the season's final week. The Falcons played the Panthers in a season-ending game but were denied playoff entry due to overtime defeat at the hands of Carolina. Despite their 8-8 record, Atlanta trailed league-division leading Buccaneers by one game.

They need Tampa Bay to lose and the Falcons to win for the Panthers so that they secure a playoff place. The game went into half with Falcons holding a 24-17 advantage. Carolina still scored 21 of the total 28 points. Bijan Robinson's touch-down with one minute left into the regulation will take the game into overtime; however, they did not even manage to end it in that extra period.

Miles Sanders scored the final one-yard touchdown in the extra session as Carolina squeaked out a 44-38 win.
After the game, Panthers defender Jadeveon Clowney trolled the Falcon fans. “See y’all in Cabo,” the veteran defensive lineman was heard shouting to the crowd from the sidelines. Both teams are headed for vacation at season’s end.

Clowney played college football for the South Carolina Gamecocks, winning the Ted Hendricks Award, and was drafted first overall by the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL draft. He played for the Texans for five seasons, and during his final years with the team, he made three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances. After leaving Houston, he played for the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens.

Jadeveon Clowney celebrated the Panthers' victory over the Arizona Cardinals, ending their NFL Playoff hopes. However, the outcome of the Panthers-Falcons game didn't matter as Tampa Bay beat New Orleans to secure its postseason ticket. Atlanta would have been on the outside if not for Clowney's victory. The Panthers finished the season 5-12, but the former No. 1 overall pick continued to be a threat. Both teams will now put playoff hopes on hold for an offseason longer.
