“She ain’t Mother Mary”: Charlie Kirk’s more attacks on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce resurfaces after his shocking assassination

The assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has brought renewed attention to some of his most controversial remarks, including pointed criticism of Taylor Swift and her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. During a past segment on his radio show, Charlie Kirk dismissed Swift’s cultural power with biting remarks. “Taylor Swift is going to come out in the presidential election and she is going to mobilize her fans. I’ll be nice. And we’re going to be like, oh wow, where did all these young, female voters come from? We better have a plan for that,” he said.


He doubled down with an even harsher comparison: “Newsflash, she ain’t Mother Mary.” Kirk also suggested that Swift’s fan base was primarily focused on progressive causes, claiming, “All the Swifties want is swift abortion.” His framing not only took aim at Swift’s politics but also at the power of her devoted fanbase, who have historically mobilized around issues such as voter registration.

Taylor Swift has long been outspoken about her support for Democratic candidates and LGBTQ+ rights. At the time of Charlie Kirk’s criticism, Swift was also making headlines for her relationship with Travis Kelce, one of the NFL’s biggest stars. Their public appearances further amplified her visibility in American culture, blending sports celebrity with political influence in a way that unsettled many conservative figures like Kirk.
