J.J. Watt says Tom Brady is still the GOAT of the NFL

The debate over the greatest of all time (GOAT) in sports often centers on soccer and American football figures. While Lionel Messi dominates soccer, Patrick Mahomes is making significant waves in the NFL, potentially on track for his fourth Super Bowl victory in five seasons. J.J. Watt weighs in on whether Mahomes should be compared to Messi or Tom Brady.

Watt discussed his perspective on the GOAT debate with FC legend Jamie Carragher on the podcast 'It's Called Soccer'. "You are certainly getting to that level of conversation. I think Tom is still the Messi. Tom Brady is still the GOAT. Tom Brady holds that title and he's going to hold that title. I mean seven rings, everything that he has done," Watt stated.

Watt says Mahomes is running out of time to win his Super Bowl legacy, which will probably be a historic three-peat and put him behind Brady. Two MVP awards and 29 years of experience will give Mahomes plenty of opportunities to further strengthen his legacy.

Watt says he has huge respect for Mahomes, whose rise to superstardom as the face of the NFL makes him deserving of accolades like global sports icons such as Messi. Watt concluded, "Tom Brady is still the GOAT.”

J.J. Watt says that Tom Brady is still the GOAT, just like Lionel Messi had to deal with many problems. Mahomes is still young enough to beat Brady, and if he does win seven rings, then the crown will be his. The GOAT debate is never set in stone; it is a constantly changing thing, as the new generations of players try to outdo the previous ones.

Unlike American football, soccer has an international reach. Messi is a global icon and winner of domestic and international titles. The Super Bowl is very much an American affair, though its influence transcends borders minimally. Such comparison, however, makes a lot of the case between Brady or Mahomes.
