Opinions seem to be flooding regarding how the relationship of pop superstar Taylor Swift with Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, will affect his game this season. Kelce has been subject to scrutiny after he only caught eight passes for 69 yards and no touchdowns in the first three games. Interest in his game attendance by Swift heightened as she attended two games in person.
Some critics may quickly label Swift as the cause of Kelce's less-than-great stats. Still, a look at how he plays the game is pretty routine. When Swift plays, he has seen 13 receptions for 109 yards. He records 15 receptions for 136 yards when she is not in the lineup. This could be a sign that the union is not as much of a distraction as so many others think.

But perhaps more significant than the wins and losses is that opinion about Kelce's relationship in the Chiefs locker room. During an appearance on "The Dan Le Batard Show," Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo addressed the concerns that maybe this friendship with Swift was affecting the attention that Kelce was bringing to the team. "I don't hear it; I don't feel that," he said. I'm not flipping through the phone to try and figure out if he's distracted. Spagnuolo pointed out his confidence in Kelce: He is one of those athletes that shows up when it matters.
Kelce To All The Hate
He admitted, of course, how Swift receives unwarranted negativity when she comes for his games, but he's learned how to just brush it all away. He also argued that the Chiefs' spotless record has diminished some of the criticism in comparison to what it could have been if they had started losing. He told the "New Heights" podcast, "We've just got to keep winning. If we lose, it's going to absolutely f***ing rain down, baby. Just got to keep winning and staying on top".
With each passing week of the season, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have remained under a microscope as a relationship, but up until this point, stats and locker room sentiment indicate the relationship hasn't affected him on the field.
