San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir criticized Seahawks' DK Metcalf after their win, highlighting the NFC West rivalry. The 49ers' defense held Metcalf to three catches for 48 yards, frustrating him throughout the game. Despite Metcalf's near-touchdown and 53-yard score negated by a penalty, Lenoir and the 49ers kept him in check, securing the divisional win.

Deommodore Lenoir criticized Seahawks' DK Metcalf after their win

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir is feeling good after shutting down Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf in a 36-24 victory, stating that "one of us showed up tonight" to discuss his matchup with Metcalf. “The Hyena can’t be f---ed with,” Lenoir said after the game, referring to his nickname. “For real. That’s all I know. I don’t know what (Metcalf) was doing out there.”

Metcal, ranked fourth in NFL receiving yards, entered Thursday's matchup with 421 yards. Lenoir spent time with Metcalf and engaged in some conversation. “Yeah, there was a lot of conversation out there,” Lenoir said. “You’re going to compete. It’s football. We kept it football. But one of us showed up today.”

The 49ers, without No. 1 cornerback Charvarius Ward due to a knee injury, replaced him with Lenoir, Isaac Yiadom, and rookie cornerback Renardo Green, who played 71 defensive snaps in the game. San Francisco's secondary held Metcalf to three catches for 48 yards on 11 targets, with an illegal shift penalty nullifying a 52-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. Metcalf had a near-defeatable first half play, but his right cleat landed out of bounds, preventing a touchdown.

Lenoir's pass breakup in the second quarter could have changed the game for Seattle. The Seahawks had to settle for a field goal after an incomplete pass in the second quarter. San Francisco's lead would have been cut to 29-24 with just under five minutes to play. The 49ers had already blown two games against NFC West opponents; they led by at least 10 points in the fourth quarter. A third defeat would have dropped the Niners to 0-3 in the division and 0-4 overall against the NFC, putting them in a difficult playoff race. Instead, the 49ers managed to secure a road win against the Seahawks, tying for first place in the NFC West.
