NFL team to secure three consecutive Super Bowl victories. Since Patrick Mahomes took the helm during his first Super Bowl run, expectations are at an all-time high. And sports journalist Mike Greenberg recently shared in a talk show that the pressure may be riding too high on the team.
Sports Journalist Weighs In On Expectations And Pressures On Chiefs Ahead of Super Bowl
With over a week remaining until the championship game, there's still ample time for additional pressure to be piled onto their shoulders. The Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9 in Super Bowl LIX. Mike Greenberg from Get Up has his own insights from witnessing another team achieve three straight titles.
Greenberg shared a memory from the early 1990s which hints at how the Chiefs may be feeling in the run-up to the big game. "I was in the room when the Bulls, the Jordan Bulls, won their first, their second and their third championship," Greenberg said.
"The first, in the locker room afterwards was a celebration the likes of which I've never seen in my life. I've never seen a collection of people that happy. The second one was a little more muted. The third one I would describe as a celebration of relief. ‘We did it.’
“There was so much pressure on them to do it and I think to that point, the disappointment of failing in that quest was obviously on their minds all year. The fear of that disappointment I think outweighed the celebration of winning,” he added.
