The Philadelphia Eagles franchise was altered by Carson Wentz and faced a transition period. The transition from one franchise to the other was not an easy process.
The transition took place during the quarterback and Wentz himself demonstrated that he was not the same player the Eagles drafted previously back in 2016.
Sources say Wentz was traded and the Eagles granted the request. The General manager Howie Roseman was against this decision of giving it to Wentz as he was in contract for four years.
The contract between the duos was extended in 2019 and seemed to be untradeable. Wentz's luck hit hard during the 2020 season when he was known as one of the worst quarterbacks in football.

Howie Roseman identified that Wentz would be the best fit in Indianapolis. With a lot of reshuffling and Frank Reich taking over as a head coach who has apparently Wentz’s mentor served best for the quarterback room.
Roseman is the middleman rather than the initiator who jumped for the 2021 NFL Draft to gamble. On one hand, the Eagles traded out of the No.6 and on the other hand Dolphins took Waddle. During the 2021 draft, the Eagles drafted and picked 3rd round from the Colts.
The breakdown of Wentz Trade seems to be interesting. The third-round pick was made in 2021 and the conditional first-round pick was during 2022. The Eagles have received a conditional first-round pick whereas the Philadelphia received the 2022 first-round pick from the Colts:
- Played 75% of the snaps in 2021, or
- Played 70% of the snaps in 2021 and the Colts made the playoffs
To simplify it the Eagles gained the 2022 first-round pick and a 2021 round pick from the Colts for Wentz. While these reshufflings were taking place Howie Roseman chose to part ways from the third-round pick. Here is a table to show the entire trade in one big deal.
