Rasheed Walker is an offensive tackle, specifically a left tackle, for the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft as their seventh-round, 249th overall pick. The Penn State alumnus is a two-time Third-team All-Big Ten recipient. The 6-foot-6, 324-pounder changed his pregame routine in Feb. 2024. He went from overthinking to simply relaxing before every game. “I used to do too much,” Walker told NFL Network’s Mike Spofford in 2024. “I used to overthink a lot, be studying a lot before the game, and trying to do a bunch of pass sets. It got to a point I just didn’t do [anything]. I’d just sit in my locker until the game and not listen to music. Just chill, relax.”

Rasheed Walker projected to earn $20 million per year in 2026 season

Walker’s improved mental state [from overthinking to relaxing] began in the 2023 season. Three years later, he is projected to earn a $20 million per year contract. He enters free agency in 2026 as an unrestricted free agent. He signed a rookie contract of $3.74 million with Green Bay in 2022. Under the deal, his average annual salary is $935,218, it included an $80,872 signing bonus.According to Austin Gayle of The Ringer, last year, Dan Moore Jr. signed a four-year, $82 million deal with the Tennessee Titans with 1000-plus snaps played, and worse production than Walker. So, the 25-year-old offensive tackle should clear $20 million per year with ease on the open market. Why?“Walker has played 900-plus snaps at left tackle in three consecutive seasons and isn’t a liability in pass protection,” Gayle explained.
“That makes him one of the most valuable free agents on the market, even if he isn’t an elite tackle or an impactful run blocker. Plenty of teams desperately need serviceable tackle play, and Walker can provide that and is still well within his athletic prime.”Such good news awaits him in the 2026 season, and what happens even before the season starts?

9mm Glock pistol in a locker box

The New York Post’s Kyle Schnitzer, Larry Celona, David DeTurris, and Anna Young report that Rasheed Walker was arrested at LaGuardia Airport on Friday morning [01/23/2026] after he tried to check a bag containing a handgun and ammunition.According to the criminal complaint, he was taken into custody a few minutes before 11 AM after telling a Delta Air Lines employee his luggage contained a locker box with his 9mm Glock pistol.

Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon

Port Authority police were alerted and reached Terminal C, where they found the firearm and 36 rounds of ammo in a locked case. The offensive lineman was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Legally licensed firearm in Wisconsin

Walker’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, told The Post the firearm was legally licensed in Wisconsin, where Walker plays football.“It was in a locked box,” Aidala explained. “And he disclosed it to the people at the airport. He told a person from Delta he was traveling with a firearm. He mistakenly thought because he had a licensed firearm and it was in a locked box that he was able to travel with it. We are confident the case will be dismissed.” Walker appeared in Queens County Criminal Court on the gun charge and was released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on March 19.
