"I'm excited to figure out an arrangement that lasts the test of time, and I look forward to sharing it," Batiste shared with Entertainment Tonight. He plans to finalize his arrangement just a week before the big day.

He’s not the only pregame act. Lauren Daigle will sing America the Beautiful, and Trombone Shorty will join the lineup, ensuring the festivities reflect the rich musical history of New Orleans.

Jon Batiste's journey from New Orleans jazz roots to the world stage

Batiste grew up surrounded by music in a family deeply rooted in New Orleans jazz. He started on the drums at age 8 but quickly shifted to piano, becoming a standout talent by his teens. At just 17, he released his first album, Times in New Orleans.

His education at Juilliard sharpened his skills and laid the foundation for Stay Human, a band known for breaking barriers with street performances and subway jams. By 2015, the band became a household name as the official band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Batiste’s work isn’t just about live music. His 2021 album We Are won Album of the Year at the Grammys, and his score for Pixar's Soul earned him an Academy Award alongside Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Super Bowl halftime: Kendrick Lamar and SZA headline the 2025 show

While Batiste is keeping quiet about any potential surprise appearances during halftime, the confirmed lineup is enough to make waves. Kendrick Lamar will headline the halftime show, bringing his storytelling and raw energy to the Super Bowl stage. In September 2024, Lamar confirmed his performance with a video, saying,
"Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know it's only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos."

SZA, who’s collaborated with Lamar on several hits, will also join him. She announced her involvement with a cheeky Instagram post, sharing a trailer for the Apple Music halftime show where she dumped blue liquid over Lamar’s head.

Ledisi is another big name on the lineup, performing Lift Every Voice and Sing.

Collaborating with legends: How Batiste built his career with Willie Nelson, Prince, and more

Batiste isn’t just another Grammy winner; he’s one of the most versatile artists of his generation. His collaborations are proof. Prince, Willie Nelson, Lana Del Rey—Batiste has worked with them all.

But it’s not just about big names. His albums, like MY N.Y., recorded entirely on New York City streets and subways, show his ability to connect with everyday people. His 2023 release, World Music Radio, continues to push boundaries, blending genres and challenging norms.
