Beckett Sennecke's OT score marks his first career hat-trick, brings big win for Anaheim Ducks against Calgary Flames

Rookie prodigy Beckett Sennecke scored a game-defining performance on a Sunday evening, posting his first-ever hat-trick, including one in overtime, as his Anaheim Ducks side ended the match on a thrilling note, edging out the Calgary Flames 4-3. The Anaheim Ducks side managed to continue its torrid run in a make-or-break period of the season.
The game was definitely clinched by Sennecke, however, as he scored the decisive goal just 2 minutes and 54 seconds into the extra period, besting Wolf with a 2-on-1 chance as he stuck with it and made way for a perfect wrist shot. The hat trick was complete, yet the goal was also symbolic of the team’s burgeoning confidence as they came from behind to win, extending their streak to seven.

The Anaheim Ducks made a comeback despite a slow start as the Calgary Flames took early command of the game in the first period. Calgary took no prisoners in the first period as they scored twice within a minute and a half to take a 2-0 lead. Jonathan Huberdeau ended a dry spell in goal-scoring form in the game as he scored his ninth of the season. Rookie defenseman Hunter Brzustewicz scored his first as a member of the NHL.
Sennecke now has 18 goals and 41 points, placing him second among NHL rookies in scoring. His emergence has been a major driver behind Anaheim’s rise in the standings, as the Ducks moved within one point of the second-place Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific Division with a game in hand. The two teams are set to meet on Monday in Edmonton in a matchup that could have significant playoff implications.
Lukas Dostal had 32 saves on the night, and both Mikael Granlund and Alex Killorn had two assists each. It was a tough game for the Calgary Flames, as it now remains winless in four games. It follows a stretch of lineup changes the team made.
This win for Anaheim represents the second event of the first season in which this team had won consecutively for seven games, and before this event, Anaheim had achieved this feat during the 2014-15 season.
