Clayton Keller's two crucial goals push Utah Mammoths to comeback win over Philadelphia Flyers
It will be a night to remember as Clayton Keller staged a performance for the ages by scoring twice, including the winning goal in overtime, to lead his team, the Utah Mammoth, to a sensational comeback 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Utah Mammoth overcame a two-goal deficit in period three to win its fourth successive outing.
The final spark of Clayton Keller locked down the game. He scored the tying goal with a polished backhand finish with a minute to go in the third period and finished the game off with a slap shot from the slot 2:01 into OT.
“We had good parts of [the game], but that's unacceptable what happened tonight,” Philadelphia coach Rick Tocchet said. “We sunk in pressure situations, something that we've got to get out of this team, right? You've got to rise to the occasion. You've got to want to be out there in pressure situations. A couple of guys sank in certain situations, so it's the bottom line. We've got to recover from it.”
Overtime was brief. Dylan Guenther found Clayton Keller in space, and the Mammoth captain made no mistake, snapping the puck home to complete the comeback and finish a three-point night. Keller also added an assist, while Guenther and Nick Schmaltz each recorded two helpers in a well-rounded offensive effort.
“We stuck with it,” Keller said. “We obviously knew that we weren't playing great, and there were a lot of mistakes and just dumb mistakes, really. We just kept fighting. So many guys made key plays, making saves.”
The win pushed Utah's point streak to eight games and capped a seven-game homestand in which the Mammoth went 6-0-1. For Philadelphia, the loss marked another difficult chapter in a recent slide, as the Flyers struggled to close out a game they largely controlled early.
The comeback by Utah was a strong reminder that this Mammoth team doesn't just score, but believes, fights, and finishes no matter the steepness of the challenge.

Early on, Philadelphia seemed in control, scoring just 30 seconds into the game and building momentum off relentless pressure. The Flyers doubled their lead minutes later and continued to dictate play throughout the opening period, scoring off Utah miscues and creating high-quality chances in transition.“We had good parts of [the game], but that's unacceptable what happened tonight,” Philadelphia coach Rick Tocchet said. “We sunk in pressure situations, something that we've got to get out of this team, right?
