‘Everybody needs a good day’: Coach Paul Maurice reacts to Florida Panthers’ resilient win against Chicago Blackhawks

The Florida Panthers are maintaining their winning streak after a big win on Sunday evening as they took on the Chicago Blackhawks and won by a margin of 5-1, assisted by a surprising contribution from the team's defenseman, Tobias Bjornfot, as the latter scored twice in the game, his fifth of this ongoing season.
However, the schedule situation nonetheless did not faze the Panthers from Florida as they took the win from the Red Wings. This is the third win in a row and the sixth in the past eight games. This just shows the momentum picking up by the team as they climb higher in the standings.

The game was closely contested through the end of the second period and into the start of the third until Florida took over. Bjornfot scored the game’sfirst goal midway through the second period off a face-off win to begin a slick wraparound on the Panthers, giving Florida a 1-0 lead. It wasn’t only a breakout goal for Florida, but it also came from the stick of a player in Bjornfot, who had scored just once in 138 games played to this point.
Chicago finally got on the board later in the period as Tyler Bertuzzi scored a goal in front of the net, which knotted the score and brought the two clubs into the second intermission, deadlocked 1-1. That didn’t last, as the balance shifted in a hurry after the start of the third period.
It took only 1:45 of the third for Mackie Samoskevich to regain Florida's one-goal advantage, slipping a wrist shot past the catching glove of Blackhawks goalie Spencer Knight. Two and a half minutes later, Carter Verhaeghe would double it off a beautiful, well-executed passing play, ending all chance at a momentum-changing Blackhawks' comeback.
Chicago, on the other hand, had the momentum of a recent string of wins broken. The Blackhawks were wayward throughout the final frame of the game to the dismay of a confident Florida outfit. Connor Bedard closed the night as a minus-three man as the young winger searched for form after returning from injury.
The triumph also demonstrated Florida’s depth and perseverance, as less usual scorers rose to the occasion with big numbers. For Bjornfot, the game marked a rare and lucrative reward on the scoring front, something neither he nor the team would soon forget.
