NHL Injury Update: Will Jake Sanderson return against Canucks after sustaining an upper-body injury?
As Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson left Saturday night’s game against the Seattle Kraken with an upper-body injury, casting a cloud over a 7-4 home win for the team, speculation is doing the rounds if the defenseman will return on Monday to play against the Canucks.
According to reports, Sanderson left Saturday’s game against the Kraken and did not return to the team. The defenseman reportedly sustained an upper-body injury after a hit from Seattle defenceman Brandon Montour. During the match, Sanderson was a plus-1 with three shots on goal and one blocked shot in 12:52 before departing as the Sens went on to win by 7-4.
Besides, the marquee player of the team has scored 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points in 62 games so far this season for Ottawa while averaging a career-high 24:49 of ice time per game.
Ottawa Senators’ Jake Anderson was officially listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after taking a hit against the Seattle Kraken. According to reports, Sanderson was hurt in the second period when he skated into the corner to retrieve a loose puck and was hit hard into the boards by Kraken defenceman Brandon Montour.
The 23-year-old immediately went to the bench, holding his right shoulder, before heading down the tunnel, and was later ruled out for the rest of the game. However, this incident did not affect Montour much, as he was not penalized on the play. Meanwhile, head coach Travis Green said that he did not have any update and stated the team will “know more tomorrow,” indicating that his status remains uncertain.
Speaking about the Senators' forward, Shane Pinto said, “Everyone knows how important he is to us. So, we’re praying for him, and hopefully everything’s all good.”

In this season, Sanderson has 11 goals and 37 assists for 48 points in 62 games while averaging 24:49 of ice time per game, the highest of his young NHL career. Meanwhile, he also entered the Norris Trophy discussion, and this loss at this time, could highly affect the Senators' season.
Despite his injury, the Ottawa Senators managed to defeat the Seattle Kraken by 7-4, scoring four goals and three-point performances from Shane Pinto and others. Linus Ullmark also made 17 saves for the win. The Sens are currently preparing to be back in action on Monday evening in Vancouver against the Canucks, and Sanderson’s status for that game remains uncertain as the team awaits further evaluation.
