With 2026 only a day away, it seems like the perfect moment to stop and review some of the personal incidents that were the
NHL offseason's highlights. Besides the goals, trades, and playoff victories, 2025 was also a period when a number of NHL stars withdrew from the public eye and celebrated something much more private—getting married.
Leon Draisaitl, Matthew Tkachuk, Nick Suzuki, MacKenzie Weegar, and Noah Dobson, among others, took the offseason to celebrate significant events in their lives with family, friends, and even teammates. These celebrations ranged from overseas destination weddings to intimate ceremonies near home, thus giving a rare glimpse into the players' lives outside the rink. While the league is getting ready to flip over to a new year, this article is taking a look back at the NHL players who exchanged vows during the summer of 2025.
Which NHL stars got married in the summer of 2025, and where did it happen?
In France, Leon Draisaitl tied the knot with actress Celeste Desjardins in August 2025, choosing a private but elegant ceremony. Some of his European Oilers teammates, whose leader was Connor McDavid, participated in the championships during the offseason.
Florida Panthers player Matthew Tkachuk married Ellie Connell in July in St. Louis, Missouri. The wedding lacked the feel of a championship party; there were players from the Panthers, and Keith Tkachuk got the ride and even more fun.
MacKenzie Weegar, the defenseman for the Calgary Flames, married his long-term girlfriend, Maggie Wallace, in late July 2025 in Montreal. Their marriage was said to be confined and chapel-based, plus there was a lavish and large reception where everyone from the Flames was seen.
Montreal Canadiens leader Nick Suzuki had a double party. He and Caitlin Fitzgerald first ran away in June 2025 in Turks and Caicos, and later had a second wedding in Montreal in July 2025, where players like Cole Caufield were included in the celebration.
Defender Noah Dobson and wife, Alexa, are getting married in July 2025 in Newport, Rhode Island, right after a busy offseason that involved significant career changes.
Among the marriages of the NHL players this summer were Miro Heiskanen's to Julia in Rome, Italy, Zach Werenski's to a woman near Columbus, Ohio, Filip Chytil's party in the Czech Republic, and Kasperi Kapanen's wedding in Helsinki, Finland.
Summer 2025 turned out to be a time of pop and fun in the whole NHL, and stars married first before the professional hockey practice, and the long journey that lay ahead became intense.
