NHL Trade Rumors: Calgary Flames could trade Nazem Kadri, Blake Coleman after Rasmus Andersson deal

A few months of suspicions finally came to an end as the Calgary Flames officially traded Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday, thereby indicating the dawn of a new era on their roster. The Flames are finding their way through the Western Conference and have thus reignited the talk of the departure of other veterans, along with Andersson.

As the situation begins to unfold, the focus has shifted to other players as well, like Nazem Kadri, Blake Coleman, and Ryan Lomberg, all of whom have either been associated with trade rumors or have been viewed as potential trade targets for the teams aiming to reach the playoffs. The Calgary Flames have made significant changes, and new names have come up even more as possible contributors to the team's future direction.

Which Calgary Flames Players could be next trade candidates?

The name that keeps getting picked up is Nazem Kadri. The centers of the veterans playing in the NHL have been under the spotlight of trade rumors pretty much all through the season, and recently, the TSN insider Darren Dreger said that the majority of people in the league think that Kadri will be traded before the deadline. While he didn't have an amazing year statistically, Kadri is still a possible top-six player since he scored 33 points in 48 games. However, the $7 million cap hit and a no-trade list of 13 teams that goes through the 2028-29 season make the possible transaction difficult.
One more likely option is Blake Coleman, a player who has often been associated with contenders. NHL insider Chris Johnston has reported that Coleman’s adaptability, physicality, and experience of winning make him a player who is in high demand. The winger’s stats for the season so far read 13 goals, 21 points, and 110 hits in 44 games, and his $4.9 million cap hit, which is set to continue through next season, is not a problem for playoff teams looking for depth and reliability who are willing to take on a player of his caliber.
On the other hand, Ryan Lomberg could become a rather under-the-radar trade bait. The player who is going to be an unrestricted free agent does not grab the attention, but is a tough player, having played in the Stanley Cup and being ready to play a rough game, which makes him a good choice for teams that want to strengthen their bottom line by becoming tougher. Lomberg has recorded 101 hits and received 53 penalty minutes this season, which are characteristics that are often favored in the playoffs.

The Flames, after trading Andersson, still look like they are very much in the process of reshaping their lineup. With Kadri, Coleman, and Lomberg being of different interest levels, Calgary could still be able to take advantage of trade value while it is looking towards the future.
