NHL Trade Rumors: Minnesota Wild eye another move after Quinn Hughes trade as Carolina Hurricanes weigh goaltending options

This week, the hockey rumor mill has once again paired the Minnesota Wild with the Carolina Hurricanes, bringing up players such as Quinn Hughes, Bill Guerin, and Eric Tulsky, who are all talking points in the whole league. With the NHL trade deadline nearing, the rumors surrounding Minnesota's second powerful move and Carolina's handling of the goalkeeper situation are getting stronger.

The Wild made a big move by bringing in Quinn Hughes, and that has already changed the expectations of the team, while the Hurricanes are in the dark after Pyotr Kochetkov's injury, which will keep him out for the whole season. Now that the Carolina team has two goalies, Frederik Andersen and Brandon Bussi, and the Minnesota team is perhaps looking for a center to go with Hughes, both teams have been involved in the trade talks happening in the NHL.

As per the report of Michael Russo and Joe Smith from The Athletic, the Motley Wild’s Hughes’ move is a signal that general manager Bill Guerin thinks that the current roster is capable of winning right now. Hughes has not only performed but has also contributed with 12 points in 11 games, whereas Minnesota has gained a tremendous 7-1-3 record since the trade. The Wild has a cap space of more than $12.9 million for the deadline, making it possible for them to get a first-rate center if an opportunity arises.
But the market might not be friendly. Along with the names of Nazem Kadri and Ryan O’Reilly, the rumor mill has been busy, but reports by Pierre LeBrun point out that neither Calgary nor Nashville is willing to let go of their key veterans even though both are contending teams for the wild-card spot.
On the other hand, the situation in Carolina is more urgent. A lower-body surgery has ruled Pyotr Kochetkov out for the season, which means that the inconsistent Frederik Andersen and the little-tested Brandon Bussi are the only ones left in this department. GM Eric Tulsky has no limitations when it comes to moving money around if the goaltending problem persists.

As the trade deadline nears, the hopes of Minnesota and the needs of Carolina can be regarded as one of the most captivating occurrences in the NHL. The respective moves of the teams will probably be the factor that decides their odds of making it to the playoffs.
