Auston Matthews Speaks About Missing His Dog While He Stays Away From Home Due To NHL And Gets Slammed By Fans
Hours before the Toronto Maple Leafs were defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights, Auston Matthews said, “I miss my dog. Yeah, I miss my dog a lot. It's been tough not seeing him around much for the last little while. Being at home is nice...sleeping in your own bed and all that—but that’s just part of playing in the NHL”.
However, fans have not taken this lightly. A fan took to X and wrote, “You’re paid 13.5 million every year. Why the f**k is my team’s captain complaining about playing hockey. Actually stfu”, while another fan wrote, “Whiner”.
A third fan wrote, ”The players wanted the 4Nats, so stop complaining about the travel”, while another user wrote, “Good lord,sounds like he was off fighting in a war. Stay soft”.
Fans are extremely disappointed in Auston Matthews and the way he has played in this season. The loss against the Vegas Golden Knights marks the second consecutive loss after the Toronto Maple Leafs also lost against the San Jose Sharks recently.
Both Toronto Maple Leafs’ Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews opened up about the loss. Auston Matthews spoke about the hectic schedule in the NHL and said, "I don’t know. I mean, it’s no excuse. The schedule’s the schedule, and so, I mean, we just gotta find a way to compete and bear down, you're dealt the cards that you get."
Just before the match against the San Jose Sharks, Auston Matthews gifted one of his hockey sticks to Sharks’ Will Smith. Will Smith expressed gratitude for the gift though many fans slammed Auston Matthews for losing the match against the Sharks later.
