Asian Para Games gold medallist Nishad Kumar: Record tootne ke liye bante hai

Nishad Kumar, who clinched a gold medal and also set a new Asian Games Record in the Men’s High Jump T47 at the recently concluded Asian Para Games 2022, says he is looking forward to the next year now. “I don’t have any competitions this year now. I have World Championship in May next year and then Paris Olympics. The next year is going to be important for all of us so I will work hard to improve my performance. Patience rakhunga ki performance better ho taaki apne desh ka tiranga phir se lehra paun,” says Nishad.

The Tokyo Paralympics silver medallist points out that he was only hoping to win a gold medal at the recently concluded games but is elated to have set a new record with a leap of 2.02m. “Record tootne ke liye hi bante hain. Mera ek hi target tha ki mujhe gold medal jeetna hai. Record toh nahi tha dimag mein, achhi baat hai maine record banaya hai aur koshish karunga ki new record banata rahun aur desh ka naam roshan karun,” he shares.

Talking about his inspiration, Nishad says that he has always been inspired by his mother. “She used to play when she was in school and she always inspired me to take part in competitions when I was in school. My family and friends, everyone is happy that I have won a gold medal in my first Asian Games,” says Nishad.
