MUMBAI: At a time when Delhi has been severely hit by the second wave of Covid-19, people from all walks of life have come together to help
humanity
.
One of those who have put their hand up to help people in this distressing time is former Delhi leg-spinner
Chetanya Nanda. The 42-year-old, in partnership with an individual named Neeraj Nangia, is providing free meals, including lunch and dinner, to
covid
patients, at their doorstep through his restaurant Chik Chow.
In a situation like this, getting something as basic as food becomes tough, especially for those people who stay alone and are infected. Nanda's restaurant is providing meals to those located within a radius of five kilometres of its location in C Block Market in New Friends Colony. The meal includes rotis (as per the number a patient would ask for), dal and mixed vegetables. He began this initiative around ten days ago.
"Life's most persistent and urgent question right now in this pandemic is 'what am I doing for others?' For me, there is no higher religion than human service, and service to humanity is service to God," Nanda told TOI on Saturday. "We aren't asking for a covid report before serving people. This initiative is on trust basis," he said.
