Nisha was ahead 8-1 with just over 90 seconds remaining when she sustained a serious injury to her right hand, causing her to weep in acute pain.

The injury severely impacted her performance and left her without strength in her right hand, allowing her opponent to score nine straight points and secure victory.

The dramatic turnaround happened after a medical break, during which Nisha was visibly in agony.

With 10 seconds left in the match, the score was tied at 8-8, but the injured Indian grappler eventually succumbed, unable to continue the fight effectively in the final moments.

Nisha might have a chance to compete in the repechage round if Pak Sol Gum reaches the final, but her ability to participate remains uncertain due to her injury.

Earlier in the day, Nisha had a strong start to her Olympic campaign, winning her opening bout against Ukraine's Sova Rizhko 6-4. As the competition got underway, the Asian Championships silver medallist showcased her skills without much trouble.

India's sole representative in the heavyweight category, Nisha had shown promise and determination, navigating her initial match with confidence before her unfortunate injury in the quarterfinals.
