NEW DELHI: India is set to send a contingent of seven badminton players to compete at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Indian shuttlers will strive to maintain their impressive medal-winning streak, having secured a silver and two bronze medals across the previous three Olympic Games.
P. V. Sindhu, who will be participating in her third consecutive Olympics in Paris, has automatically qualified for the women's singles event, ranking 12th among the top 16 shuttlers. She previously won a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo in 2021.
In the men's singles category, H.S. Prannoy and Lakshya Sen have secured their spots, ranking ninth and 13th, respectively, among the automatically qualified players.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the Asian Games gold medallists, have also earned their place in the men's doubles event, ranking third among the top eight pairs who have automatically qualified.
Additionally, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will represent India in the women's doubles competition.
