Despite the low-scoring nature of the match, it was a strategic battle dominated by strong defensive moves. In the end, the scoreboard displayed a 1-1 tie, with top seed Medet Kyzy advancing to the semifinal.

Medet Kyzy started the match aggressively, attempting a double leg attack, but Reetika's impressive upper body strength allowed her to maintain her ground and prevent a takedown. Reetika scored the first point due to Aiperi's passivity in the first period, but she also faced passivity in the second period, losing the lead.

Aiperi managed to grab Reetika's right leg, but the Indian wrestler skillfully escaped her opponent's grip. After equalising the score, Aiperi focused on defense, utilizing her experience to keep Reetika in a head-lock position.

Despite both wrestlers scoring only 1 point each for passivity, the tiebreaker went against Reetika due to countback.

The order of tiebreakers in wrestling follows a specific sequence:

  • the highest value of holds,
  • the least amount of cautions,
  • the last technical point(s) scored.

In this case, the last technical point scored by Aiperi determined the outcome, resulting in Reetika's elimination from the competition.

Wrestling employs a repechage system, which provides athletes with a second chance to compete and progress to further rounds, even if they have lost once in the initial stages.

In wrestling, repechage is used solely for determining bronze medal positions. A wrestler qualifies for repechage if the competitor who defeated them advances to the final. Since there are two finalists, two separate repechage rounds occur: one for athletes defeated by the finalist from the top half of the bracket and another for those defeated by the finalist from the bottom half.
