The Serbian top seed secured victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas, winning 6-3, 7-6 (7/3), despite aggravating a right knee injury that had required surgery in June.

Djokovic slipped on the baseline of Court Philippe Chatrier and needed on-court treatment for his knee.

He fell behind 0-4 and then 2-5 in the second set but managed to save three set points in the ninth game.

The 24-time Grand Slam title winner, who is still seeking his first Olympic gold medal, then dominated the tie-break, securing his 12th win in 14 meetings against the Greek player.

Djokovic is set to face Italy's Lorenzo Musetti for a chance to compete in the gold medal match.
