NEW DELHI: Narayana Konganapalle and Anita, the silver medallists from the Asian Para Games, concluded their Paris Paralympics campaign without a medal, securing the eighth position in the PR3 mixed double sculls rowing event on Sunday. The Indian duo, making their Paralympic debut, clocked a time of 8:16.96 seconds in the Final B repechage race, which determined their overall standings as per PTI.Saige Happer and Todd Vogt of the USA topped the Final B race with a timing of 7:48.38s, while Mexico's Miguel Angel Nieto Carpio and Angeles Britani Gutierrez Vieyra came behind the Indians (8:28.23s).The Indian pair had to participate in the Final B classification race for the 7th to 12th positions after finishing third on Saturday with a timing of 7:54.33s, trailing behind Ukraine (7:29.24s) and Great Britain (7:20.53s).Konganapalle, an Army sepoy, lost his left leg below the knee in February 2015 when he stepped on a landmine while guarding the Indian borders in Jammu and Kashmir. Anita, on the other hand, lost her leg in a road accident at the age of 18.The PR-3 category is designed for para-rowers who have residual leg function, enabling them to slide the seat during the rowing motion.
