NEW DELHI: Yogesh Kathuniya, a 29-year-old athlete from India, secured his second straight Paralympic silver medal in the men's discus throw F-56 event at the ongoing Games on Monday.

Kathuniya achieved a season's best performance by launching the discus to a distance of 42.22m in his opening attempt, adding to the silver he earned in Tokyo three years prior.

Claudiney Batista dos Santos of Brazil accomplished a remarkable feat, winning his third consecutive Paralympic gold medal in the event. Dos Santos set a new Games record with an impressive throw of 46.86m during his fifth attempt.

The bronze medal was claimed by Greece's Konstantinos Tzounis, who recorded a distance of 41.32m as per PTI.

The F-56 is a seating field event class for differently-abled athletes. People with amputations and spinal cord injuries take part in this classification.
